-
- Now there is an adapter that lets you initially connect your
- network with one type of cable, and later switch to another
- without the major expense of replacing your adapters. Artisoft's
- AE-2/T Ethernet adapter offers you this flexibility by supporting
- two kinds of Ethernet cabling.
-
- The AE-2/T adapter lets you cable your network with the
- affordable unshielded twisted-pair cabling. Then all you have to
- do to make your network connections is add Artisoft's Peer-Hub
- concentrator, or any other standard 10BASE-T hub - or upgrade to
- thick coax cable, which extends network lengths to up to 500
- meters and 100 nodes per segment.
-
- This adapter is 100% downward compatible with Novell's NE2000
- drivers. Plus, it's more affordable and offers better features,
- which makes it the smart choice for LANtastic networks - as well
- as the smartest choice for Novell and other networks.
-
- Like the NE2000, it offers 16K buffer RAM - twice as much RAM as
- most other adapters offer. But only the AE-2/T adapter is
- upgradeable to 64K. So you can get information off the cable much
- faster, and your computer can move on to other jobs.
-
- It even gives you increased efficiency, with more IRQ options
- (Interrupt Request Lines) than most other adapters. These
- additional IRQs can be used by AT class machines or above,
- leaving you more free IRQs for other hardware devices.
-
- With an optional Artisoft PEROM chip installed, you can boot
- up a diskless workstation from a network server. Each PEROM
- chip contains software instructions that locate the boot image
- stored on the server and boot up the diskless workstation. What's
- innovative about this PEROM chip is that its software can be
- reconfigured or updated by diskette, which means you don't have
- to replace it,as you would other ROM chips, which saves you money.
-
- The Artisoft AE-2/T Ethernet adapter can be used in either 16-bit
- or 8-bit slots and automatically senses between these modes to
- switch for higher performance. It offers a 10 Mbps transfer rate
- and is in 100% compliance with IEEE 802.3 Ethernet standards.
-
- [{Features}]
-
- o Downward compatibility with Novell NE2000
- o Jumper for non-standard bus
- o Optional PEROM chip for booting up diskless workstations
- can be reconfigured or updated with software, instead of
- being replaced
